Weaknesses

For some reason, one of the most common comments I get from readers is that they liked “how Symon was bad at archery” or “how Symon had a stutter.” What? Are readers more attracted to the imperfections in characters than the things the characters do well?

I’d say, yes. I can think of weaknesses of characters in books I’ve read at least as fast as I can think of strengths. (Especially characters who have a disability and get past it, like Percy with ADHD, or Tyce and Noah who areparaplegics, o...
