Twofaced wordsmith
My first ever post as Ava Finch. Yes, the name is a nom de plume. Writing as someone else is great fun - plus I get to make choices about my bio and incorporate my bucket list items. Act out some of my wishful thinking. For instance - I get to choose where I was born. Even BEFORE enduring TWO Bush administrations I'd had a crush on Canada, admiring it's national persona - less power-mongering, better scenery, great radio (several shows featuring books and readers)the self-effacing sense of humor, etc. I opted to be born in Sechelt, BC and to hold a Canadian passport. Ava has some skills I don't: she can play piano and is adroit at fishing. She is a day-dreamer, has a close bond to her family and has a most awesome vintage speedboat. She chooses books for their covers (no cartoon shopping bags, high heels or wine glasses. No women from the back, or parts of women from the back.) I admire Ava for being a hard worker, while I'm rather a lazy thing. I'm jaded where she is more hopeful. Lookswise, she got the thick hair I've always wanted, and has generous mouth with very good teeth (a gap just wide enough to be charming). And even while she regrets her tattoo, she let herself throw caution to the wind for long enough to get one. More about Ava later... I think the next blog posts will be a sort of writer's diary as she goes through the process of the publication of Fishing With RayAnne... Watch for it!
