The Sixth Gun Art Exhibit and Trade Release Party (and a Conundrum)

In just a couple of weeks, Brian and I will be heading to Challengers Comics in Chicago for a two-day event to celebrate the release of the trade paperback edition of The Sixth Gun: Cold Dead Fingers! If you're in the area (or close enough to make the trip) I hope to see you there! Here are a few details…

January 14th at 7:00pm – Art Opening, refreshments will be served, cocktail attire requested

January 15th at Noon – Signing and Discussion

Graphic novels are a combination of literature and art, so why shouldn't a graphic novel event be the same? Challengers Comics + Conversation presents THE SIXTH GUN weekend: a Friday evening opening with artist Brian Hurtt and writer Cullen Bunn, then a noon signing on Saturday with both creators.

Just as THE SIXTH GUN crosses genres, this unique event crosses mediums, and celebrates not just the art or the writing, but the comic as a whole.

As I read the event details, though, a couple of things jump out at me: "Fancy dress" and "cocktail attire." Now, I'm not sure, but my definition of cocktail attire may be a little different than the public-at-large. For me, cocktail attire is similar to this:

But I don't think that's gonna fly at a gen-u-ine art gallery!

So, I have to put some thought into how I'm gonna dress fancily.

My first inclination was, "Hey! A monacle always fancies up a wardrobe." But, being that I have no hair, I was afraid I'd come across like this guy:

And I don't wanna be associated with a Facist super-villain.

Or maybe I could try some Scott Pilgrim cosplay, dressing as my favorite character, Matthew Patel!

But is the "pirate look" ever really in? I don't think so.

So, then I got to thinking… since The Sixth Gun is a Western, maybe I should sport some fancy Western attire. A hat! A hat is always fancy!

Grrr, baby. Grrr!

Hmm… That's sexy, sure. But fancy? To fancy it up a bit, I might need a swanky bolo tie!

But if I'm gonna go for a bolo tie, I might as well do the whole cowboy tux…

But, when compared to that picture, I'll never be able to pull off that look to my wife's satisfaction.

Besides, I want my tuxedo to have super-powers, like Jackie Chan's.

So, I guess something like this is always an option…

I'm still unsure, though. What do you think, gang? Do you have any terrific suggestions? Here's your chance to play dress up with a real, live Cullen Bunn doll. Don't screw it up!
