~HeadButler.com

Recommended by Frances Schultz, whose book I am currently loving and cannot wait to share with you in the coming weeks, I cannot believe I hadn’t found Headbutler.com until now. Jesse Kornbluth, the founder and sole editor/writer of HeadButler.com is aptly named a cultural concierge. With reviews on books, music, films, and much more, Kornbluth navigates all of the bombardment of information that new media and releases bring and shares with you what’s worth your time and money. His “About” page is quite delightful, and he writes from experience as he has contributed to Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, Reader’s Digest, The Los Angeles Times Magazine and Departures, and to The New Yorker and The New York Times. Be sure to put this on your reader.

I for one, am eager to learn, learn and learn some more!

Film
~Irrational Man

Starring Emma Stone as one of Joaquin Phoenix’s philosophy students, the two engage in an unadvised romance at the hands of, who else, Woody Allen. Phoenix’s character is at a loss for where is life is going, until . . . Stone’ character comes along. Opening today, Emma Stone will no doubt hold her own, while Parker Posey always adds her own flair. Check out the trailer below.

Shopping
~Chanel’s Misia

Chanel’s latest addition to the beloved line of fragrances is Misia. Named after a close confidante of Gabrielle Chanel, Misia Sert, the fragrance is described as blending feminine May Rose and Violet with masculine hints of leather. I must say I am at least curious, aren’t you?

~Cole Haan ‘Bethany’ leather pump (other colors available)

Today marks the beginning of Nordstrom’s semi-annual anniversary sale, and with it Cole Haan’s classic pumps are reduced 35%. Part of just about any wardrobe I style or wear is a classic nude and black pump, and both are available at a fantastic price from a quality brand.

Television
~Cedar Cove, season 3 Premiere

Summer time series are the best, aren’t they? Especially when they involve a cute, cozy town nestled up against a bay of pristine water, and minor drama, but relative simplicity. Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove returns for its third season this Saturday for a two-hour premiere on Hallmark. Be sure to tune or DVR at 8pm.

Well, the change I have been talking about for months and hoped and wished to become reality has taken place. Perhaps you’ve been following on Instagram and already know, but just in case you haven’tI have arrived and set up shop and home in Bend, Oregon. The last few days have been a world wind beginning last Saturday with a moving sale, but as I type, I am sitting in my house in Bend, Oregon. Whether you know about Bend or not, I hope you find it within yourself to pursue what speaks to you. It may take time (hey, it took me nine years to finally arrive), but if you keep listening and trusting your heart, it won’t lead you astray.

In other exciting news, a week from tomorrow, the second weekly episode of The Simple Sophisticate will air bright and early on Saturday July 25th, so be sure to tune it. This particular episode will be quite different from the Monday edition you’ve become accustom to, so I’ll be sharing more details about what you can expect early next week.

Wherever your weekend plans take you, may you enjoy and put down the technology for a bit. The outdoors, the markets, the sunshine, is waiting. Until Monday, bon weekend!
