New Direction?

Recently, I wrote an MM romance, His Warrior's Heart. This was an entirely new direction for me, as a writer. As my readers know, my normal genre is M/F Fantasy Romance with a menage thrown in once in a while just to keep it exciting.

The main character in His Warrior's Heart wormed his way into my heart by appearing in a couple of my previous titles as a side character. But he was so unhappy, withdrawn, and had angst written all over him (pun intended). I tried pairing him up in my head with a couple of different females, but there was just no chemistry. Then one night -- literally it was night and I'd gone to bed -- it hit me. Mango wanted someone who could understand and take care of him -- the warrior and the man. Who better to do so than another warrior. One who'd lived the same kind of life. And The Brethren series was born.

Mango and Galon really spoke to me, as a writer. They just fit together, and from them, another side character (That I actually hated as I wrote about him. I mean the guy's an asshole.) began asking for his own HEA. Once I got into his story, I could see why he was the way he was and he really did deserve happiness.

The second book in The Brethren series is a little different since it's kind of a menage with the main character having two mates: they're twins -- a male and a female. I know, but it works, just wait until you read it! The Healers' Warrior is set to be released in late August.

I'd actually started another story to be part of The Hashani series, and it just wasn't going anywhere. There was simply no connection between the two main characters and I was ready to pull my hair out and scream, but one of the minor side characters sat up and said "Me, me, me!" So I am now writing a third book in The Brethren series, which is also a menage, but involves three males.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and found a new direction. One that I find fits me well. Sure, I'll get back to the other book some day, but for now the voices in my head are shouting to me that love occurs however and whenever it wants.
