And Another Giveaway...

For recent new GR friends and followers, I also wanted to post that I'm doing another Goodreads giveaway for my poetry collection, Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter.. I'd love to see the copies go to people who actually read poetry, rather than to those (many) people who enter giveaways just to get free stuff!

Here's the link:

P.S. The Kindle version is 99 cents on Amazon. I would make it free, but I'm not allowed...

Patricia I entered. If you look at my poetry shelf on Goodreads, you will see that I do read poetry, as well as write poems, attend readings, edit anthologies, and promote the art any way I can!

I hope you're one of the winners--good luck!

Claudia Putnam It is interesting how many people seem to enter giveaways for that reason. I don't think any of the people who won my chapbook were poetry readers! However, authors don't have any control over the winners. (PS, I entered, too. :) )

I've actually come to believe that some of them are part of some sort of organized group--they win books, and then sell them asap, perhaps through one of several outlets. Or maybe I'm just paranoid! But it's easy to tell who they are, and fortunately for the time being I have a solution--I still have several of my old ARC books (with the old cover). Those are the ones that go (with the inscriptions, "ARC--NOT FOR RESALE," and "Thanks for entering the Goodreads giveaway" inside the cover) to those people. The newer, non-ARC copies go to people who clearly have at least some interest in reading the books they win. Ba-HA!! :)

Goodreads really should do something about it; I don't know why they haven't yet.
