Ever wanted to see Batman in the TARDIS? What if he was made of Lego? Yep: you’re sold on this, right?
Well, the Fan Show have given us all a sneak peek at the gameplay of the upcoming release, LEGO Dimensions – and Steven Moffat’s son, Louis is playing it! It’s pretty awesome. LEGO Dimensions is the new Toys-To-Life game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and features the biggest brand mash-ups the gaming world has ever seen.
We get glimpses of the Doctor (confirmed to be voiced by Peter Capaldi himself) alongside other famous franchise characters including Homer Simpson, and Lord of the Rings‘ Gandalf – as well as a CyberKing dreadnaught, classic TARDIS consoles, and even, it seems, a Special Weapons Dalek. Which the Doctor takes a ride on.
And we also briefly see the additional Doctor Who pack enabling gamers to play as the Doctor, and also includes buildable characters including the TARDIS and K9. That’ll be released in November and will further unlock mission-based levels and unique in-game abilities.
Oh, and about 2 minutes in, just look at Peter’s reaction to seeing William Hartnell, the First Doctor. How lovely. And yeah, how great! Hartnell. In a game. Made of Lego. Surely testament to the love and respect for the show’s 52-year history (well, nearly 52 years, okay?).
LEGO Dimensions is coming to the Wii U, XBox One and 360, and PlayStations 3 and 4 on 29th September in the UK. For once, I’m actually actively excited about a LEGO game!
Take a look at our exclusive Kasterborous Magazine #2, an immersive look at the various Doctor Who attempts to get into the gaming world, including Worlds in Time, The Eternity Clock, and Legacy, and the LEGO Dimensions‘ trailer.
