Might be worthwhile a short, polite, pointed email to Borders CEO, advising them that they really, really can't afford to turn down literature that - while not their view of mainstream - is still well written, popular and has a following on sites like GoodReads. Or point this big, skinhead trade-union bloke in their direction, and I'll sort 'em out when it comes to fair representation ;)
Arzu - yeah, I was unamused. Ah well, it's their loss. Our genre continues to grow. Not something you can say about the "mainstream" (and exactly HOW mainstream are the memories of a footballer's fucktoy/wife?).Jamie - that would be awesome! Any idea where I can get hold of the guy's email addy? Any advice you have? (It's not that I *want* on their blog, I just don't want to be smirked at.)
Their head office emails seem to be formed of initialsurname@bordersgroupinc.com - I'd suggest sending the email to: @bordersgroupinc.comBennett S. LeBow (CEO) blebow@bordersgroupinc.com
Mike Edwards (President) medwards@bordersgroupinc.com
Scott Hentry (CFO) shentry@bordersgroupinc.com
I couldn't find a name for their 'diversity officer' even though they bang on about it: http://www.borders.com/online/store/B... - again, I'm all for companies being good, supportive and helpful, but I do call the buggers when they choose to ignore their own policies ;)
I can't help but wonder if the blog publisher has been living under a rock, considering how many straight women purchase same sex romances. The genre doesn't seem targeted at the LGBT community, regardless of how mainstream we are or are not. I often feel like I'm the lone lesbian reading about gay romance. To add a layer of potential bigotry, I wonder if her reply would have been the same if you were a woman writing same-sex romance novels. I am full of sunshine, aren't I?

Und ausserdem ... auch wenn sich ausser einer Zahl nichts aendert, wuensche ich dir alles gute fuers neue Jahr!!
