Mary Ann I think a book should be at least 200 pages long, but I sometimes buy shorter books. I read about 120 books a year, and it is cheating to include graphic books and too short ones, so I average the count out. Since 1967, I have kept a list of the books I read in a spiral notebook. Last year, I started keeping the list online. There are 25 titles on each page; I write down the number of pages in each book and it usually averages out to over 300 pages per book.
Only about two or three books on my to-read shelf have under 200 pages. There are a few with 600 or 700 pages.
Actually the number of pages is not a big consideration in selecting the books I buy.

Mary Ann I am reading so many mystery series I can't keep up with them. I usually start late in the series, so it is more catch up with the story than it is waiting for a new book. I love Janet Evanovich, but did not read all the books in the Stephanie Plum series.
