If I keep doing these weekly posts, there’s no way I’ll be able to say nothing changed. Because things always change, even if I don’t immediately notice. After seven short days, there’s always something different in your life–a detail that changes everything.
But if things change in a week, imagine over the course of years. When I got the approved proofs of Dissonance I had my brother take a picture of me at the park reading a copy.
And then I remembered Grandma took a picture of me a long time ago when I was about 8. I was reading A Little Princess and she had me look at the book so she could snap the picture. I had no idea how important that picture would be to me now.
Let me show you.
So much has changed, but nothing really has changed.
I have my own copy of this photo somewhere and one day I’ll find it so I can scan a good version. And I’ll be sure to thank Grandma for taking that picture.
Nothing has changed, yet everything has.
