i dont know why anyone is surprised by that post going around that talks about how Blizzard is violently transmisogynistic in their writing of WoW shit, just looking at the ri-goddamn-diculous sexual dimorphism of (pretty much) every race in WoW should tell you how “THIS IS A MALE. THIS IS WHAT MALES LOOK LIKE. THIS IS A FEMALE. THIS IS WHAT FEMALES LOOK LIKE. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR VARIANCE.” they are. look

its good to see that someone finally made a post about it.
I hate to break this to you, but sexual dimorphism is real, and the only thing “ri-goddamn-diculous” about it is the fact that it is ONLY cosmetic and doesn’t have an impact on your stats. So, you can tell the difference between a male and a female at a glance? That’s not “transmisogynistic”, it’s good design.
But, I’m sure you’d rather play a game about snails. Have fun with that.
It’s… it’s not good design.
Give them a second glance. See how the males get to be inhuman. The orcs slouch. They have crazy proportions. Musculature is all over the place. Trolls get to have long arms and big tusks. Draenei get those chin tentacle things. They’re all vividly and clearly different from each other. Look back at the females. All those inhuman characteristics are dialed way back. Instead of being clearly from a different race than ours, their bodies look basically human but with one or two weird things going on. The digitigrade aspect of Draenei’s legs are much less pronounced when they’re female. Orcs are muscle chicks just with pointed ears. Trolls have ears and maybe little tusks? I can’t even tell from the picture. Weirdest of all, the snake lady has boobs despite reptiles not being a thing that lactates. If these characters were all painted the same flesh color, it’d be much more difficult to tell the female side apart than it would be for the male side. Even their postures are very close. Basically, they’re designed to show a feminine idea of beauty first and represent their race second, which makes their designs a lot less interesting, varied, or fun as the males’.
Blizzard is hardly the only company that does this, but yeah.
