What's Up Wednesday: Beach Read #1

So, this week...I went to the beach and I read.  Of course, I also had to keep track of 3 children and 1 hubby but I still managed to get in some quality reading time.  Yay!

And in anticipation of my own summer release a/k/a Killer Beach Reads coming JULY 16th from GH Publishing and featuring no less than 22 stellar reads for your beach reading pleasure...(pauses to catch breath)...I decided to read some of my other fave authors in the meantime.

My Beach Read of the week was the first in a new series by thriller writer Chelsea Cain entitled One Kick.  If you're not familiar with Chelsea, you may want to get caught up on her female serial killer series that will rock your world.  But, if you want to start with her latest series, you will not be disappointed.  I simply fell in love with Kick Lannigan and her damaged soul.  Love this character and was so sad when I reached the last page of this one.  In fact, I sat there staring at the page in the back of the book that states that Book #2 won't be available until January 2016!  What?  #waitingishardtodo

http://www.gemmahalliday.com/Halliday_Publishing/ourbooks/KillerBeachReads/ Chelsea has something known to writers as a "fabulous voice".  And for you non-writers, this is basically the way (or style) in which she tells the story.  I really did find myself crawling into her character's mind and taking the journey with her.  I wanted to yell out encouragement for her.  I wanted to jump in there and fight with her.  Most of all, I wanted to give her a big old hug.  Of course, I will advise readers to hug Kick only if you are willing to risk personal injury.  She's tough.

Great plot, lots of action, twists and turns, secrets, love and hate and heartbreak.  This book has it all.  I'm hooked.  #kicktastic

Recommended and two thumbs up.  Or, as my photo above shows...a ten red toenail salute to Chelsea Cain and to Kick.

See you next Wednesday!
