My favourite thing EVER is waiting for a bus that never comes.

Seriously. Today in Québec it’s the provincial holiday, which is kind of a bigger deal than actual Canada Day on July 1st, so everything is closed and the buses are running on the holiday schedule. I should have been off today, but oh no: my one-on-one morning student still wanted to have a class, so I agreed (reluctantly) to go there and teach him. For many very stupid reasons, this particular school is always trying to find places to have classes other than the school, because the “school” is actually a used book store and the only teaching space is IN the store, and the manager of the school takes all of the day time at-the-school classes for herself. So for this class, I have to go to the guy’s condo, which is WAY out in the boonies. One of the two buses that goes to his place is only running every two hours today, and it doesn’t start until 11:30am. His class is from 9-10:30am, so that’s out. The other one, which involves a 15-min walk at the far end, was supposed to arrive at 8:06am. I was there at 8am just to be on the safe side, and I just waited until 8:30am, but nary a bus did come. So I emailed him and explained, and went back home. It’s fine and all, because now I do have the day mostly off (at least until I go and teach voice lessons tonight), but the point is that I could have slept in. Grrr. I usually don’t mind not having a car, but today it’s really trying my patience.
