U.S. Open DraftKings Picks
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! This week is exciting as we ready for the second major of the season. No, THE PLAYERS does not count. For the first time in U.S. Open history, we head to the Pacific Northwest on a links-style course.
There will be much more about that tomorrow, but first let’s take a quick peek at DraftKings…
This week’s winner of the Future of Fantasy Golf Tour contest on DraftKings will be awarded a dozen golf balls, so hop in there. Comment at the end of the post if you need an invite. Spots are first come, first serve until we fill the 50 spots.
Form Fitting
Billy Horschel ($8000)… 8th-11th-13th-48th-51st
Kevin Na ($7100)… 13th-10th-6th
Keegan Bradley ($7700)… 8th-22nd-MC-22nd
Justin Rose ($11,500)… 2nd-MC-1st
Hideki Matsuyama ($8900)… 5th-20th-17th
Kevin Chappell ($6100)… 22nd-49th-19th-16th-MC-MC
This team is toasty as of late. Ride em while they’re hot. Some other form figures on my radar include Jordan Sieth, Rory McIlroy, Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker, and Brendon Todd.
Tournament Horse-tory
Jason Day ($9900)… 4th-2nd-59th-2nd
Matt Kuchar ($8800)… 12th-28th-27th-14th-6th-208th-48th
Sergio Garcia ($9600)… 35th-45th-38th-7th-58th-23rd-29th
Webb Simpson ($7500)… 45th-32nd-1st-14th
Kevin Chappell ($6100)… 32nd-10th-3rd
Brandt Snedeker ($8100)… 9th-17th-11th-8th-72nd-9th
This isn’t like most weeks were we can pile on course horses. With a rota of courses, this team is all about the ability to play tough tracks set up by the USGA.
Handpicked Value Plays
Kevin Chappell ($6,100) … He’s got nothing worse than a T32 in three U.S. Open starts. That includes a pair of top 10s. He’s been in contention on tough USGA-setup venues before. He’s found form lately as well. It was extra icing on an already icy cake when Joel Harrington informed me on this week’s podcast that Chap owns a home in Kirkland, WA, a mere 45 miles from Chambers Bay.
Ryan Moore ($7,500) … Speaking of local connections, Moore has those ties. He grew up just 15 miles away from the site of Chambers Bay and has likely played the course more than anyone this week outside of Michael Putnam. He is a tough mouse to catch when his game clicks and that may just happen this week as he tees it up in his back yard.
Brandt Snedeker ($8,100) … He’s not super cheap but he may fly under the radar this week. Many will see Billy Ho right below him and ride the hot hand or pay up $400 more for everyone’s favorite Villain, Patty Reed. This will leave Sneds under-owned and I’ll grab up his seven career wins and 10 career top 15s in majors with pleasure.
