10 tips for running a children's writing workshop

"Dear Philippa, Thank you soooooo much. You're an amazing writer and I learned so much from you. Please have this workshop again next year."-Zoey (9)

It's been a total honour to run four children's workshops with the Toronto Public Library this spring. The sessions ended last week, and it was really fun!

When I was asked to do the workshops however, I'd never done one before so it was quite a learning curve. I put in 60+ hours of preparation and the input from other authors who'd done workshops (thank you L.M. Falcone, Evan Munday and Andrew Larsen!) really helped, too. It was all worth it, the final result was that young writers had a great time, and so did I.

My #1 tip: keep each writing assignment, exercise or game to 20 minutes.
