The Inaffectiveness of Modern Christianity
I find myself asking all the time, why is the world in the state it is, when so many people claim to be Christians? After all there’s a church on every corner so why aren’t things better than they are?
I think it’s in large part because religion as we’ve created it is very ineffective. We are really good at producing good sounding songs, great sermons, good sounding books, but really what does anything actually mean?
Someone can say they love someone but if they show absolutely no signs of loving that person, what do those words mean? Nothing.
Religion has become a collection of nice sounding phrases and thoughts on what things should look like, but lacks any kind of backbone. In large part we’ll say something nice but lack any substantial evidence that we can bring about change.
Doesn’t that go against everything Christianity is about? Isn’t our version of Christianity completely opposite of what it was meant to be?
The Bible was full of dirt, grime, ugly reality, and men and woman who had grit. Who lacked that polished air yet weren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty for just causes.
Want to actually begin to make change? Stop with the nice sounding meaningless words. Let your actions speak for you.
