Choosing to be Black? "Space Traders" from Cosmic Slop (dir. Reginald Hudlin)

"Space Traders" was one Derrick Bell's more provocative essays from Faces at the Bottom of the Well , raising the ultimate existential question about what it means to be Black--and who gets to choose.  The essay was brilliantly turned into a short film, with a screenplay from Trey Ellis and direction from Reginald Hudlin.  Piece was part of a three-part one-time-only HBO series called Cosmic Slop (from the Funkadelic song).
