Not to mention Mary is a CIA-trained contract killer. Shooting people because she was “scared” would make her a piss poor operative and a huge liability to any organization. If she’s gonna be bad, please make her actually good at it.

And don’t forget that she’s ex-CIA, a freelancer! For that, she’d REALLY have to be good, and I believe that she is! She shot someone she kknew without a sliver of hesitation. She waited only long enough to get the information she needed from Sherlock (”Is John with you?”) and then she smiled at Sherlock’s naïve assumption that she wouldn’t shoot a so-called friend, and pulled the trigger. She’s a cold-blooded professional and calling her “scared” in this moment undermines everything the writers have done to build up her legacy as a professional killer.
