The launch of The Debt Collector's Due

Like any struggling first-time author, the main challenge to getting established rests more on the ability to promote my work than create it.

The launch party for The Debt Collector's Due was one such attempt to position ourselves as different by thinking outside the norms of generally accepted launching formats.

"You could have just had a wine and cheese", someone pointed out astutely, "but I'm so glad you didn't. This is so much more fun"

The fun she was referring to was the murder mystery themed event that we chose to immerse our guests in, much to their surprise. Many came expecting to be bored with a mundane book reading (my voice can probably put New York to sleep) or a long drawn out speech about my struggles and triumphs (both of which are glaringly limited at this point).

Within minutes of the event, guests - both old and young - were screaming answers across the room, as each table competed with the others to answer clues that would lead to the identity of a mystery murderer.

More importantly, look out for more blog posts about how we're going to go about marketing this book. If nothing else - we're going to have heaps of fun doing it!!
