Reading Your Own Book After It's Published

With Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh's second anniversary recently passing, I decided it was time to read the trilogy again, because honestly, I hadn't read them since I approved them for publication. That's Two Years since I read something I worked so hard on, and that has changed my life.
Things I noticed. There were definite improvements in writing style from one book to the next. It's like a permanent record of my growth as a writer. Although, they are all technical things, things that don't really distract from the plot. In general, I still love the stories, especially the characters, and I still cried when so-and-so died, and grinned when so-and-so triumphed.  I still love Naomi, flaws and all. She's reckless, and often follows her heart without checking with her head first, especially when it comes to her children.
And book 3 is still my favorite!
Anyway, I don't want to go on about my book, mostly I just wanted to mention how cool it was to read the books again after so long. It's like I put them out there, and moved on. I've been so focused on other works, I just let them roll on. I'm glad I decided to read them again! I'd recommend all author's go back and read their books again.

Michael Cristiano I tried rereading The Black Oracle when it arrived at my house, but I just couldn't do it. I couldn't turn the internal editor off, and then that just made me insecure. Maybe I'll try again in two years?

Katie Hamstead Maybe! I couldn't read any of mine again right away because after all the editing, I just kinda skimmed them like they meant nothing. And don't worry, my editing brain was on while reading too! But I tried to overlook things, since book 1 was my debut novel, and I'm fairly forgiving to debut novelists when I review.

Ann M. Noser I'm still looking forward to reading this. The first one waits on my shelf, along with a lot of other tempting books. Oh, to have more time in each day...

Katie Hamstead Right? My poor kindle is exploding with books. I'm thinking I'll take an extra day in the hospital to relax and read.
