A Paranormal set in the Dark Ages

Forsaken Guild of Bones Forsaken Guild of Bones by Hargrove Perth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caught between powers of Dark and Light during the Dark Ages

It's the Dark Ages. The Inquisition runs rampant, torturing and burning witches without remorse. The Scottish Prestwick Coven negotiates a deal with the Guild in Rome to safeguard their family until it's safe to practice magic. Beautiful and young, Reagan McGovern may be the most powerful witch ever born into the coven. Her powers will soon awaken, and she must choose to serve as a Dark One or an Ethereal, breaking a delicate balance of power within the coven. Devious outside political forces manipulate the coven to steal her powers, but a love affair interferes. Intrigues between the corrupt Pope and his paranormal conspirators threaten the Ethereals, who seek the protection of the powerful Medici.

The author delves into historical events involving Kings, Popes, Templars, and various paranormal beings during a perilous epoch. Feeling forsaken by the coven, Reagan's fury toward the Guild might send her into a spiral of revenge. Marcus, the Sentinel assigned to guard her, must help the young witch choose the right path as she discovers painful truths. This is the first book of a series, laying the groundwork for interesting future books.
