"I peeled the back of the moon, and found you sitting in the dark of a crevice, playing the banjo...."

I peeled the back of the moon, and found you sitting in the dark of a crevice, playing the banjo. You were smiling at a joke you’d share with me ten years from then. I took you by the hand and danced with you to the edge and we looked at Earth together. How small and how grand it was. How infinite the space between our fingers. I carefully shared my sighs with your mouth and told it a secret I’d tell you ten years from then.

You said ‘do they feel lonely down there.’ And I looked at you. Your wide mouth brimming with oceans, your trembling eyes, how they always leaked seawater. Always shaking, always dripping something. I looked at you and I thought ‘you are an entire universe.’ I looked at you and I said 'yes, they’re lonely. They’re lonely and glorious with it.“
