I can’t tell you how happy this trip has made me. The first day of the con, all fhe comics people started a little slowly, so we weren’t sure if we were going to be busy.

I obviously don’t know enough about China to comment on what it’s like elsewhere, but I have been getting emails and messages from people from all over China for years. You are definitely not alone.

This con was amazing, and was way, way more girls than guys. And they were VERY into comics and superheroes and video games. They asked amazingly deep and knowledgeable questions, they talked about their favorite characters, they wore obscure character t-shirts and accessories, they cosplayed gorgeously, I can’t describe it. It was simply beautiful and I cried several times.

You are not alone, people who love the stuff you love are out there. Shanghai might be a long way from you but there are people who can talk to you via Tumblr and elsewhere. I truly believe the success of this con is going to lead to LOTS more and I hope you end up having more friends than you can handle!
