At the Intersections of Race, Genetics, Genomics and Identity: Preface to a DNA Reveal

On the eve of the DNA Reveal for host Mark Anthony Neal, Left of Black talks with Professor Charmaine Royal about her work as Director of GRID--The Center on Genomics, Race, Identity, Difference at Duke University. Dr. Rick Kittles , a pioneer in genetic ancestry testing and co-founder of African Ancestry, Inc., will reveal the results of Neal's DNA test during a panel discussion on race and genetics featuring Columbia University Sociologist Alondra Nelson , author of the forthcoming book, The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome. Royal will co-moderate along with Karla FC Holloway , a professor of English, law and African and African American Studies at Duke on Wednesday, May 20, at Duke University.
