My ARC (advanced reader copy) came over the weekend, carefully pawed over and admired–and then it disappeared–upstairs I think, in one of my boys’ bedrooms. Fortunately I got another yesterday, and in the brighter sun in my office, I realized the beautiful thing is not just bumpy with raised text and detail, glorious with the cover art on both the front, back, and spine, but it’s been pearlized so it has a subtile sheen.
Holy cow, Gallery didn’t just put a picture on it, but gave it a huge measure of sass and panache. (I’ve never used that word before, but it fits.) I’ve broken out of the flat bland covers on my ARCs for a while now, granted the status a photo gives you, but my gosh, this thing is beautiful.
So . . . do you want one? Huh? You want to vanish into Peri’s world for a few hours and come up refreshed and seeing things in a new way? There’s one up for grabs at RT thanks to my editor, Lauren McKenna being there. Look for her to be on a panel on Thursday, from 4:00 to 5:00, third floor of the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, the shawnee Trail room, A. They might let you look at it if you stop by the Simon and Schuster/Gallery booth. I’m not sure where exactly they are going to keep in in the meantime. It shines, I tell you. It shines!
