SHOE-LESS IN NADA

Once, it was a bad dream,

a little girl at school, no shoes

out of place, out of grace

a pearl born to lose

it’s shell broken to dust

in a wilderness between

heaven and hell.

Now, it’s freedom’s heart

the naked feet on the ground

of earth not flat but round

no beginning, no start,

Just bare feet kissing earth

Not a curse,

but a blessed rebirth.
