About Mechanics of Love…
So, DIRTY THOUGHTS, the first in my new Mechanics of Love series (6/16, Avon Impulse) is apparently making its way into reviewers’ hands. And since it’s out in about six weeks, I decided to write a little post about it.
First and foremost — I love writing this series. It’s about families and friendships and looooove. It’s about rekindling old loves and finding new loves and most of all, it’s about growing. The love interests in this series are late twenties to early thirties. I’m thirty-two. And I’ll tell you what, I don’t know if I’m closer to feeling like an adult than I did at twenty-two (cue Taylor Swift singing).
In DIRTY THOUGHTS, Cal has a lot of growing to do. A lot to learn. He committed to bachelorhood ten years ago and he didn’t think anything would sway him from that decision. That is, until Jenna MacMillan, his Sunshine, comes back to town. He comes around, but there are growing pains, people. Real growing pains. And along the way there are sweet words and family shockers and best of all — sexy times. In vehicles. *cough*
I love Jay Crownover to death. She cracks me up and she’s also crazy talented. She saw my awesome cover and asked to read an advanced copy of the book. And because she’s NYT BESTSELLING AUTHOR JAY CROWNOVER, I fell over myself to email this bad boy to her. And she was amazing and read it and had this to say about it: “Megan Erickson offers up a super sweet, extra sexy second chance romance that will have you laughing out loud and needing a minute to cool off.”
So nice, right?
I think I was made to write the Payton brothers, I really do. Writing this series feels like home to me. I’m not sure why, but it does. There is some sexy and some sweet and I hope a good couple of laughs. I set out writing this series with the intention of a decent-sized cast. There’s Cal and Brent Payton. Max Payton and good ol’ dad Jack Payton. There’s Jenna MacMillan and her friend Delilah Jenkins. There’s a surprise character I think you’ll fall in love with. So I hope DIRTY THOUGHTS makes you eager to read about everyone else. I just turned in DIRTY TALK to my editor and I have to say, Brent Payton might be my favorite hero ever.
So yeah. This series has a lot of my heart. I loved convincing Cal–the gruff, stubborn loner–to open up his huge heart and let people in. Welcome to Tory, Maryland, home of Payton and Sons Automotive.
