New Short Story

I submitted another short story as one of the features writers at bookscover2cover. This one is about the human toll on aging and what friendships mean to us.

Richard Blakely One of the many things I like about this story is the way the author lets dialog reveal telling facts, like when the son reminds his mother that they did "all the paperwork," which tells us that he's worried about her memory. Another---and this is something I appreciate in everything I've read by Ms Templeton so far---is the overriding "humaneness" of all the characters. No saints, no villains, just people getting by and trying to do the best they can, like you and me. Still another is the subtlety of the ending. Edna's non-appearance is an earthshaking event for Muriel, cutting her off from her past and prefiguring her own end, but Templeton relates it quietly, in a low key, the way Muriel accepts it in fact, which is why the story is so moving.
Bravo!
