Apparently, we're all a bunch of slackers, according to my local paper.
Us Jack White fans, I mean. I got the sense that they were somewhat taken aback by how many people showed up for tickets so quickly. The show was announced at 8 AM and by 10, four hundred people were in line, including me. It wasn’t until almost noon that the press showed up and few cops. A nearby gunshop and bait store parking lot was taken over by the cars of people in line and the owner called in like 5 tow trucks to haul them away. What a dick.
The show itself was amazing. Amazing. Very intimate. For awhile it was just Jack and an acoustic guitar singing on the edge of the stage unmiked. Not gonna lie, I teared up a few times. His voice is so emotional!
There was one snag: during beginning stages of the show some loud-mouthed, probably drunk chick was heckling him. She apparently wasn’t too happy with the country/bluegrass nature of the show.
What a fucking heathen.
But the crowd really came down hard on her. For a minute I was actually worried about her, as it seemed like they were going to kill her. Thankfully, she shut the fuck up.
Jesus, I thought, here Jack White is kind enough to give us a very intimate, essentially free show before he goes on a long perfoming hiatus and this tool is heckling him? If the crowd did kill her, I probably would’ve been ok with it. Haha.
After the show, I ate a bunch of falafels and went to bed.
God bless you, Jack White. I bet even God is thankful you didn’t become a priest :)
