NAKED EDGE nominated for 2010 Readers Choice award

Naked Edge has been nominated by Goodreads for a Reader's Choice Award for 2010. To win, I just need you to vote!

Here's the e-mail I got this afternoon from Goodreads:

Congratulations! Naked Edge (I-Team, #4) is nominated for a 2010 Goodreads Choice Award for Romance. The polls are open to all readers throughout the month of December, and the winners will be announced in our January 2011 newsletter. Spread the word to your fans and encourage them to vote! http://www.goodreads.com/award/choice/2010

ABOUT YOUR NOMINATION The Goodreads Choice Awards reflect what readers like. There were no secret committees. We did not defer to experts or look at book sales or previous awards. Goodreads nominated 15 books in 23 categories by analyzing statistics about books read by our members from the 47 million books added, rated, and reviewed on the site in 2010. Official nominees were selected based on a book's popularity and average rating among Goodreads members, so a nomination is truly an honor because it comes from your readers!

HOW YOU CAN WIN! With over 80,000 votes already cast, readers are flocking to the polls to support their favorite books! Unlike other book awards, the Goodreads Choice Awards gives readers a voice, which means that you can do your part to make sure your book gets the votes it deserves! Now is the time for you to get your community to the polls!

Very exciting!

If you're already a member of Goodreads.com, just click here and vote for Naked Edge.

If you're not a member of Goodreads.com, it's easy to join, and it's one of the most fun places on the Net for readers and authors to talk about books. Check it out.

Everything you can do to spread the word will help. Post on Facebook, Twitter, your blogs, your loops. Share the link.

Show rock-jock Gabe how much you love him!

And thank you!

Pamela Of course, I knew about this already thanks to KarLyn and others. BUT, I didn't think to "campaign" till Goodreads e-mailed me. :-)

And many, many thanks to my Goodreads friends and readers whose support has brought this about.

message 2: by Quinn (new)

Quinn Good luck, Pamela. Gabe already got my vote!

message 3: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Thanks so much, Quinn! Gabe and I really appreciate it. Oh, and Kat, too. LOL!

♡Karlyn P♡ woo hoo! I am so glad to read how your book got selected. That is really good news!! Hope your publisher and agent sees that. :-)

message 5: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Isn't that fantastic, KarLyn? I wondered how it ended up there. That's the best possible answer I could have hoped for. Making Smart Bitches list combined with this is pretty darned sweet. :-)

Thanks again for letting me know.

What SB list? BTW, I just added a 'vote for Naked Edge' post to your fan group. I didn't know if it would be 'politically correct' to do that, but if Goodreads says you must promote your nomination than who am I to say I shouldn't. :-)

message 7: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Oh, thanks! Great idea! I appreciate it!

Kirkus Reviews published a blog post by SB Sarah, and she named NAKED EDGE as one of her picks for best romances of 2010. I think there were 20 on the list. The link is on my FB page, but I'll go get it...

And post it there. :-)

Keri Cool! Gabe got my vote as well.

message 9: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Thank you, Keri. Gabe is grateful — and so am I. :-)

Beanbag Love A voted for my Gabe days ago. Good luck!

Pamela Thank you, Beanbag! I appreciate it.

message 12: by Muslifa (new)

Muslifa I have voted for your book. Its so awesome and I love reading each and every book of you. :)

message 13: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Thanks so much, Muslifa. That means a lot to me.

Lady Jayne *~*The Beach Bandida*~* Pamela, I voted for Gabe and Kat. But I have to be completely honest that I was torn, since two of my other favourites this year were Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas and Lover Mine by J.R. Ward. I wish they’d had Historical, Paranormal, Romantic Suspense, etc. sub-genres! But I figured that Lisa Kleypas and J.R. Ward already have big followings and I really want your books to the recognition they deserve, Pamela, because they're so great. And you did pour a lot of your own experiences into Naked Edge. Discovering your wonderful books this year, chatting with you, and having MTM to look forward to, has definitely been a highlight for me for 2010! So, thanks and good luck, Pamela! ^_^

message 15: by MBR (new)

MBR My vote went to Gabe without hesitation, mainly because as Jayne has pointed out, the I-Team series was definitely one of the highlights of the year. I guess I was lucky in being able to read all 4 books at a go! ^_^

And I'm pimping out the I-Team series wherever possible! Muslifa is a testament to the fact ^_~

So all in all, 2 fans from the sunny side of life Pamela! And I am sure it will grow into much more in the time to come! Good luck!

Pamela Hi, Lady Jayne — I appreciate your vote and completely understand. What a conundrum! Because they put all the romance genres together, that will make it tough for a lot of people, I suspect. But your vote means a lot to me, along with the reasons behind it. So thank you!!! :-)

Hi, Maldivian Book Reviewer — I had a sneaking suspicion you might be behind the sudden increase I had in friends on FB from the beautiful land of Maldives. ;-) Thanks! I really appreciate the word-of-mouth support.

Lady Jayne, that is funny because I had the same issue with that book except for the write-in hero part. I voted Naked Edge without hesitation (I just loved it), but Leo was a stand out hero considering how much I originally hated him. I fall in love with so many hero's each year, it's really a tough decision. But Gabe?! Wow, when I think of what he was willing to sacrifice for Cat I tear up. He too deserves to win best hero! I haven't voted hero or heroine this year yet, but will.

message 18: by Beanbag (new)

Beanbag Love I looked at the other options and, while I absolutely loved this year's Hathaway books, I didn't hesitate in voting for Gabe and Gabe/Kat. I'm pretty vocal about how I feel about him as a hero, of course, but it's not just his sacrifice or heroism, it's his arc that I loved. It was organic and emotional. He was the same guy in the end that he was in the beginning, but in a totally different place and viewing everything from a different facet. Heck, if the arc hadn't been so well-drawn the ending could well have come off like a gimmick, but it didn't at all. I gush, but I can talk all day about Gabe Rossiter. And I voted for him because the characterization earned it, not because Pamela's a sweetie. :D

message 19: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Hi, Beanbag — Thanks so much for saying that! Some readers never warmed up to Gabe, but you perceive him the way I had hoped readers would. He was a good guy in a bad place when we meet him; he finds his way through his own grief and rage (over Jill), with Kat's help, and was himself again by the end. That's a lame way of expressing it, but then I'm not done with my coffee yet. :-)

I slept in today. YAY! And as soon as I find the energy, I'm going to clean this place. Then back to research for Connor.

Whuuuh? Who are these cold, cold people?

I'm glad you got a chance to sleep in for once. Do you have snow yet?

How do you shift from finishing BP and so quickly moving on to Connor? Does the research smooth the transition? Here I go with my minutia questions again. ;^)

message 21: by Pamela (new)

Pamela I don't know that they're cold people, per say, so much as women who hate man-sluts and find that quality more or less impossible to redeem.

We have snow on the high peaks. We had one eensy snowstorm down here. I live at the base of the foothills about 45 minutes from Longs Peak, so we're about as close to the mountains as you can get without being in them. Today it's 60 degrees and windy. Whatever.

I want snow!!!!!

Shifting from contemp to historical or back again... I love your questions. :-)

Research helps, but it takes time. I have a recovery period (emotionally and even physically) when I finish a book, and I have to get through that. And research is how I turn those weeks into productive time.

Also — and this is huge for me — I switch music. When I'm writing a contemp, I'm constantly trolling playlists and using iTunes Genius feature to find new music that "feels" like my story. (I'll be putting up Zach and Natalie's playlist soon.) I seem to veer toward post-grunge rock — 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, Nickelback, Staind, Evanescence, etc. — with some lighter stuff tossed in, too.

When I write a historical, I completely quit listening to that and listen exclusively to old Celtic music. By that I mean strictly traditional Celtic. Old Blind Dogs tops the list. I love those guys! Met them all a few years back.

So the music helps my mind shift.

Right now, I'm missing Zach and Natalie a LOT so I'm still listening to my BREAKING POINT playlist and feeling their "angst." I'll get over it.

It's funny because when I finish a book and find out that my editor is satisfied, I always feel so relieved that I don't have to write for a while. And inevitably within a WEEK, I'm jonesing to put words on the page again.

It's a sickness. LOL!

Wow, so that was a looong answer. :-)

Beanbag Love I love your long answers. :)

As for Gabe .... I know I'd have to be fully encased in ice not to heat up over him. ;^)
