Giveaway: The Broken Kingdoms and The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by NK Jemisin

Last week I hauled myself to London to see NK Jemisin interviewed by Niall Harrison aka [info] coalescent   at the monthly BSFA meeting.  I had to cut out early to make my train home, but I'm so glad I went!  I got to see the always-amazing [info] fastfwd   and her husband Chris, had a quick word with [info] swisstone  , saw [info] fjm   for 3.7 seconds and met some other lovely people briefly.

And I met Nora!  You may remember that I read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms when it came out and thought it was terrific, so my expectations were high.  I was not disappointed!   The author was a gracious and thoughtful interviewee.  (I hope I didn't annoy her with my weird and somewhat inchoate questions.)  She also read from The Broken Kingdoms before talking about some of the thinking that went into the books.  She is an engaging speaker and comes across very naturally with warmth and humour.  If I hadn't read her work, it certainly would have been clear just from hearing her speak that she writes with rigor and that her work is multilayered.  Listening to her, I felt like I was glimpsing the worlds in her head.

I have a copy of The Broken Kingdoms kindly provided by Anna Gregson at Orbit because the book was not out last week when Nora was in the UK.  It is out now and Nora has signed this copy, which I'm now going to give away.  I also have a signed copy of The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

I've been very good and haven't read The Broken Kingdoms (my own copy is on its way) so as to be able to offer it pristine with its signature.  I'll hold the giveaway open until the end of the day Sunday 7th November.  Leave me a comment, or if you're on Twitter, retweet and I'll see you.  There will be one winner for each book, so please specify which book you want.  I will send the books anywhere in the world.
