It's not fair what aging does to the body when the mind still thinks that it can do what it used to. I discovered this little fact yesterday. I was so proud of myself for putting up a new cat shelf in the window that I thought I'd try putting up the new blinds I'd bought. New blinds because the cats, I have four, ruined the first two pairs.
This time around I bought bigger, sturdier blinds but I swear if they ruin these I'm going to go back to curtains. Anyway, I got everything out, studied the directions, and proceeded to get busy. Yeah, that wasn't going to be easy. I have bad arthritis in my left hand and now beginning to feel it in my right. Plus I was using a manual screw driver.
I could only screw so far before I'd have to give up due to the pain in my hands. Boy did that piss me off because there was a time when I could just about tackle anything. I'm not that old either, won't be 60 until the end of the year. But just that little defeat showed me what aging and arthritis can take away from you. I had to break down and ask my son-in-law to help me. Thank God he's a sweet kid.
