Every published writer has been where you are. That’s your reason not to give up.
Here’s another:
Don’t write for the publishing. Even when you get published there’s a lot of ups and downs in this business and unfortunately this isn’t the only time you’re going to feel frustrated. Write for you. Write a story that you love and characters that you feel you have to write about. Then when you query, write something else. Make it about the craft and the story and all of the things you love about it.
Make sure writing and books aren’t the only aspect of your life. Don’t get me wrong, they’re sometimes the only aspect of mine. But do other stuff. Have experiences, get inspired. Then write something different. And keep repeating the process. You’ll keep learning and keep improving and maybe publishing will happen. Either way, you’ll be happy with your writing.
