What's with Nick?

So I've been taking my time with the Players - A Sports Romance Anthology, largely because I've been falling for some stories and re-reading them instead of moving on with the next one! My most favorite would be Camilla Sisco's Submission Moves: An MMA Romance (for being funny, realistic and #femmepowered), Suzette de Borja's The Princess Finds Her Match (I can't resist royals, yo), and Mina V. Esguerra's The Harder We Fall (because lots of mentions of sweaty, bloodied, dirty rugby players *fans self*).

The funny thing about all three? The leading guys are named Nic, Nick and Nicholas!

While plotting out my own contribution to the Players anthology, Tame The Kitten, I'd also been toying with the idea of naming my lead Nick. It just seemed appropriate -- a friendly, unassuming but somehow 'manly' sort of name, if that makes sense. In the end I decided on Fab because...well, because The Strokes.

So what is it with the name Nick and hot sporty guys? Is it just us? Does the name give you hot sporty feels too?
