Spring…yippee…or maybe not.

Duffy Brown here and its spring! Yippee. Yeah, I do love it, my favorite time of year, but like everything there is the not so great side of spring.
Some people have terrible allergies and all these flowers blooming and showing off means there is pollen everywhere. Spring is lovely…if you can stop sneezing long enough to appreciate it.
Then there’s the wardrobe to consider. Spring means dragging armfuls of wool stuff to the cleaner and packing up winter clothes and dragging out the summer stuff. What to keep, what to toss what to hold on to ‘cause I really intend to lose those ten pounds and get into those skinny pants. Amazing the lies the lies I tell myself. I should be ashamed.
But for me the biggest spring pain in the backside of all is getting the outside cleaned up. All winter I just worry about the inside of the house but now I look around the yard and think...a condo seems like a really good idea.
There’s the weeding, fertilizing, cleaning out the garage from all the mess like spilled salt and road grime. Shoveling out the cars themselves from winter coffee cups that never made it back to the house, grocery bags that broke and that pack of M&Ms that broke open and landed everywhere.
And then there’s dragging out the pressure washer to blast grime off the fence, deck, sidewalk and siding. There are screens to wash before I put them in and the windows...they are so dirty it’s amazing I can see through them.

I hate all this cleaning part but it has to be done. The worse part is cleaning out the fountains where the leaves and slime has been percolating all winter. The stench is horrible, raking out the leaves back breaking but there is no fountain ferry going to do the job if I don’t.
So what about you? What is your least favorite spring clean up job? The car? Windows? Porch furniture? We can all whine together. And if you see that fountain fairy be sure to send him my way.
