My latest for The Huffington Post. I received a lot of criticism in my last Vice article for suggesting we spend more resources to improve disabilities for people, instead of just accepting them as they are. What those critics don't realize is that I think all humans can use improvement, including all able bodied ones too. Everybody is a frail biological being designed to suffer, wither away, and die. That's just not good enough for transhumanists. The culture of transhumanism is about self-improvement. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zoltan-...

I am not sure I understand this. Every ideology wants to improve people's lives or outcome. And reading this article, for a practical woman I am, just seem yet another ideology with idealistic aims but no explanation " how".
So it just read a bit like a religious pamphlet.
Why is this different to " if you believe in Jesus ( I don't believe in anything) and pray, your life will get better." ???

Hannes Johansson Every ideology does not want to improve people's lives, as in the life that we know for certain that we have. Lots of ideologies are built around the principle of suffering in this life so you can have less suffering in a supposed after-life for which there is no evidence.

The difference between "if you believe in Jesus, do this and your life will get better" is that the science-minded person will give evidence and concrete reasons of how any proposal will actually improve life in a demonstrable way.

Yes, I understand, but in the article, there was more concrete " how " or "why" , this is why I made the comparison
