Interesting Series 9 Snaps on the Doctor Who Instagram Feed

Over the past few days, the BBC has posted a few photos from the set of Doctor Who Series 9 on their Instagram feed.

The first of these photos is speculated to be possibly connected with Missy’s TARDIS, and shows what looks to be a green tinted spider-like pattern, with different symbols within it. The symbols that are in the spider look somewhat Gallifreyan, so even if it is not related to Missy’s TARDIS, it is safe to assume it is probably something related to Gallifrey. The mysterious photo came with an accompanying caption…

What do you think this is? Who can come up with the most imaginative suggestion? #DoctorWho #BTS #behindthescenes

The next photo that was posted was the first photo of the sonic screwdriver during filming of Series 9. Who is holding the screwdriver is unknown, but it doesn’t seem as if it is Capaldi as the hand looks significantly different than what Capaldi’s hands are like. Speculation has pointed towards it possibly being Neil Fingleton, the tallest man in Britain holding the screwdriver as he appears in the opening two-parter The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar.

Another less than spectacular photo posted on the feed was again an unknown person’s legs and feet stood in the mud. The location is possibly that of Llanharan, where they have recently been filming the Mathieson, Moffat and Tregenna two-parter The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived.

However, perhaps the most interesting of the photos posted over the past week on the Doctor Who Instagram feed was that of a huge pile of treasure and other various valuable items. The photo seems to point towards a possible pirate/smugglers connection with what is presumably the Mathieson, Moffat, and Tregenna two-parter. But, recent reports from the set of the episode have suggested that Maisie Williams’ character was in costume as a robber, dressed in black boots and wearing a black mask. Therefore, it is entirely possible that the photo is of the various treasures that Williams’ character has stolen.

Look what we found on set… Jackpot! How do you think this treasure will be used in the new series? #DoctorWho #BTS #behindthescenes

What do you think the pictures are hinting towards? Could the green spider pattern be Missy’s TARDIS or is it something else more exciting? Is there going to be a sonic screwdriver duplicate for another character? Speculate in the comments below…
