Do You Peek At The End?

Yep, sure do. I saw this topic during my cyber prowls early this early morning before the rest of the civlized world awoke. I'll admit it. I do peek every now and then. To me, it doesn't ruin the story one bit. If I happen to read a spoiler, say, given in a review, it doesn't bother me. Of course, when I write my reviews, I have to be sensitive to those readers who do object. Surprise endings and twists delight me while reading, but I'm usually more interested in the character development and the prose style and other good stuff like that. Different strokes, I guess.

Heather When I read a "who done it" type story I try to solve the case before the ending then peek to see if I'm right.

That's fun to do. Sometimes I'm wrong, though. Thanks for the comment, Heather.

Sarah The only time I look at the end is when I fear that one of my favorite character will end up dead or if there are any animals in the book.... it is petty but I will not finish a book if the animals do not live! The rest of the time I want it to be a surprise.

Jessie No! No peeking! The journey is what it's all about.

I don't like animal cruelty in books, either, Sarah. Killing off likeable characters turns off readers, too. Thank you for the comments.

A good sentiment, Jessie! The journey is all. Thanks.

Tim Definitely not! Besides the ending is often the least satisfying bit of the story.

Ken I would NEVER skip to the end of a novel to determine 'who done it'.
That would defeat the purpose of reading the book, and much, much worse than eating the frosting first.

Hilary (A Wytch's Book Review) With a kindle book no, but sometimes with a paper book!

Paula Adams Never. I like/hope to be surprised by the ending.
