So, about my Twitter account(s)…
As if you’ve really been wondering…
Regardless, I’m gonna talk about them all the same.
Because you know why?
Probably not so I’m here to tell you…
I really like Twitter.
Especially relative to the other social networks in general and the facebook in specific.
Of course, unless you’re famous with millions of ogling fans fanatically fixated on and willing to retweet retweets of each and every one of your already heavily retweeted nonsensical 140-word brain burp of a non-topical tweets, Twitter’s functionality for me lies mostly in its service as a news feed. There’s rarely any back and forth goings on with any of my followers.
Oh, and Twitter also services rather well as an effective aid in bringing down the repressive governments of censoriously censoring dictators.
Which is a pretty cool thing for a social network to have a knack for.
But, for yours truly who severely lacks in the millions of ogling and fanatically fixated fans or a desire, as of yet, to stir up a tweet-fuss to topple my not so much repressive as it is depressive government, Twitter serves me my news and that’s about it.
And one thing I noticed about Twitter’s functionality as a news feed: the more accounts I follow, the less effective the functionality is.
I mean, I used to follow just about everything and everyone.
Yeah, I tried that whole follow-back deal (you know, kinda like I do here where I follow just about anyone and anyone who follows me) in a futile effort at “platform building” to sell my books.
It actually did help to sell a few more books than I otherwise would have sold had I not been doing the whole “Follow Me!” thing, but it totally destroyed my experience with Twitter.
It’s not that there aren’t a lot of cool Indie Authors who I would enjoy following. It’s just that when doing so the Law of Diminishing Returns quickly kicks in and before you know it, the strategy of following everyone essentially means you are following no one.
Know what I mean?
But still, I really want to follow you if you follow me.
Especially if you are an Indie Author or Indie Publisher.
So, I decided to do like many of you have already done, and which I, myself, have already done with the facebook – and that is to create an account just for the authorial side of me.
So, hitherto and henceforth and all the time in between, this website will be associated with my brand spankin’ new Twitter account:
Follow me there and I’ll follow you back – Guaranteed!
Well, unless you’re one of those robot spam accounts…
Or a Baltimore Ravens fan.
Just kidding, just kidding…no need to start a twitter-fuss during the off-season.
Heck, I’ll even follow you if you are one of those robot spam accounts!
For the time being, in addition to my new author account, I’ll still continue to feed the blog into my established account @KurtBrindley. But I will focus less on books and writing there and more on politics, sports, and other current event-like stuff. So, please, by all means do follow me there as well and I just might follow you back if you’re also into discussing all that politics, sports, and other current event-like stuff.
Right on?
Awesome.
So, that’s about all I have to say right now about my twitter account(s).
As if you’ve really been wondering…
