In Others’ Words: Think Big or Think Small

Think Big 2 2015

It’s Monday … the beginning of a new week. Are you planning on thinking at all this week?

Looking ahead at my week, there’s going to be a whole lof of thinking going on. And I love the challenge put forth in “The Donald’s” quote: I might as well Think Big.

Want to join me?

At first read, Thinking Big conjures up the idea of Dreaming Big, Risking Big, Living Life Out Loud. And I believe that’s all a part of Thinking Big: not limiting myself — daring to go for more, to push past my limits, to raise the bar a little higher than it was yesterday or last week.

But I also believe that Thinking Big means refusing to give into small thinking:

comparison
envy
self-pity

When I give into this type of small thinking, I have no strength for the day ahead, no strength for the journey I’m on. I become smaller.

Today I’m Thinking Big. My eyes are on my journey — not someone else’s. I’m celebrating my successes — and others’ too. And I’m embracing all the reasons I have to be thankful, not getting tripped up by the ugliness of self-pity — what an absolute waste of my time! (If you want to join me, I’m participating in a fun #100daysofhappiness event of Facebook, where you post a daily reason you are happy — either a sentence or two or a photo. It’s a great way to zero in on gratitude!)

In Your Words: How would you define Thinking Big? How are you going to Think Big this week? What do you think causes small thinking?
