If you're a woman and you often feel like men ignore you, interrupt you, or simply forget that you're there (anyone know a heroine with that problem? :) you probably aren't imagining it. In Rima's case (
Kergulen, Kings of the Red Shell) the problem usually has more to do with her race and seeming lack of experience than with her gender, but her frustration was written as an outlet for my own, which I'm sure has more to do with my gender than anything else. Well, I just read this very interesting article about the topic, and it explained and validated some of the impressions I've had about the way men tend to treat me and other women in group conversations. It's by no means an absolute, and certainly some men don't follow the stereotype, but as a general rule... don't deny it folks, you know you've been there. Here's the
