Commentary Noooooo. No peeking!! No excuses. Books are like theater - the author is creating an experience. It is a mark of respect to let that experience unfold as the author intends. I only skim business books (there the first and last chapters are basically all you need and sometimes the whole book is in the title anyway. I can say that because I write them). But fiction deserves more respect. I only skim if the writing is just so awful I can't bear it. But usually if it is that bad the end is totally predictable anyway.

Jennifer Estep It's cheating, I know. But sometimes, I just can't help myself from taking a sneak peak at the end. LOL.

I don't do it nearly as much anymore, though. I've spoiled too many mysteries/thrillers that way.

Jennifer Estep Yeah, I might sneak a quick look at the page count, but that's about it.
