We Are NOT All One! Though we ARE All Connected
We are NOT all “one.” Every time someone writes that on some meme, or some blog or some Facebook musing, I cringe. I usually keep my mouth shut, for to disagree with that sweet sentiment makes me seem like such an ogre. But I simply must disagree. We are not all one, but we ARE all connected.
We are all one, sounds so loving, doesn’t it? Most people are naturally loving and so would gravitate toward this kind of thinking. But it’s a trick. Don’t get me wrong. I am not about hate, or division. I believe in love and compassion for everyone. That does not mean we should give up our "I"-ness. We should not give up our individual rights, freedoms, preferences, unless, of course, those preferences interfere with anyone else and their rights.
We are meant to be individuals. Individuals that think differently, that have different opinions, different preferences, different ideas of fun, different favorite colors, different talents and capabilities. We have different life circumstances, different opportunities and that is because we each have different things to learn in this life and different paths to walk.
This “all one” concept is a collective view and is an affront to my personal freedom, and an affront to your freedom as well. It is a way to indoctrinate people, who have not been taught in public school of the evils of communism, socialism and totalitarianism.
However....we ARE all connected. What one does affects others, which affects others, which affects others. So in exercising our freedom, we need to take responsibility too. We need to be loving and compassionate towards all. Even tolerant of what others believe, as long as those beliefs do not interfere with anyone’s rights, life, liberty or property. I need to put in a caveat right here. Never be tolerant of evil. Never compromise with evil. Evil seeks to take away individual freedom. Evil is known by its works. Look around. You can spot it fairly easily today for evil has become brazen. The only ones who can’t spot it are the ones who have bought into the “we are all one” diatribe and can’t see the evil for it is dressed in lamb’s clothing.
We are individuals having individual experiences, learning individual lessons and evolving at an individual rate. As individuals, we can help others, or not, interact with others, or not. It is what we do with our lives that is our choice, and we will reap the rewards or consequences.
If man is, that he might have joy, then I suggest we all share love and kindness and create beauty, for that is what brings joy. May I suggest that we are each individually responsible for our own happiness and yes, may find even more joy in helping others to find their happiness. Not by doing it for them, but by being a shining light to all you see. That is your connection! Each light adding it’s glow until the world is shining in light and love. But don’t forget that those are each individual points of light with stories all their own.
