The Two Towers is amazing all around and, I agree--may be the best movie (especially the end, with Sam's voiceover). But, gotta love the end of RoTK...
Cones of Dunshire...challenge extended, eh?
Well...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
It's on.
I just recently watched season 7 of P&R myself. I've been putting it off and just watching reruns, unable to bear a universe without the P&R gang. The feud between Leslie and Ron is disturbing, but all's well that ends well. I did love that they gave us their futures--we did deserve that. I know I sleep easier knowing their fates!I still miss them with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns, to the point that I watch episodes of The Grinder and sigh blissfully whenever Rob Lowe/Chris says "literally", or my eyes well up when I look at the pictures I took of the Pasadena City Hall on my vacation (used as the exterior of Pawnee City Hall). A kid in my class wore a shirt with Ron as "Woman of the Year" on it the other day and I made him stand up and model it for the class. Maybe I need some sort of series ending therapy. . . I'm not sure.
Why did they leave us? *sobs despairingly*

Bye, bye Li'l Sebastian...

Like uncontrollable, heaving sobs.

Wow... your Magicians review brought me here, but this was a fantastic simile in review form of two of my favorite things. Thank you for this Sean.

I think at this point you know I am an uber-fan of Lord of the Rings, and this of course includes the films, but you are so right about the storytelling! Two Towers is probably my favorite book and movie because I love the people of Rohan AND Helm's Deep is pretty epic. Also the Ents.....my favorite. Anyways, I'm getting off topic....
I don't think the storytelling aspect of the Return of the King was as solid as the first two films but I do think the ending was warranted. In fact, that is pretty much how Tolkien ends his book; although you have this extra long ending because you have the burning of the Shire and you have more details on what happened to Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. But it fits because how the characters move on and end their journey is important. You have become so invested in them and their relationships with each other that it is important to the story to find out how they end.
Thanks for this! I loved it! Also I would whip you in Cones of Dunshire...just saying.
