Shredding the Heart coming in April as part of the Foolish Encounters Anthology
Soon the wait will be over!Shredding the Heart
A short story part of the Foolish Encounters Anthology Coming April 1st from Wilde Press.
Nicholas O'Brien, skateboarder, constantly seeks to break barriers, land the next trick, get the sponsor and focus on the sport. Yet, for weeks he's been mesmerized by a brown-haired, clean-cut, uptight jogger at the local park. The man is obviously wound tight, his posture ramrod straight, his form perfect, his face a stony mask of concentration. It's those hazel eyes that glow with a yellow fire in the sunshine that hook Nicholas. He needs to get this man's attention. Okay, so skating boarding in the man's path might not have been a good idea. Trying a flip while doing it might not have been a worse idea. But in his asinine way, it seemed like the only way to get the handsome jogger's attention. Now they are both in the ER and the doctor is putting stitches into the man's gorgeous head. When Nicholas tries to strike up a conversation, the man shuts him down. What ensues is a mission for Nicholas: He will get Quinn one way or another! But just when things seem to be moving forward, Quinn pulls back, leaving Nicholas alone and confused with a broken heart.
Quinn Matthews hadn't planned on ending up in the hospital, much less getting stitches in his head. While the younger man was cute with his too-long-on-the-top hair, and tight body, Quinn swore off men after his last boyfriend spent over $5000 of his money. Quinn is lonely but he will be taken again, even if that means being alone for the rest of his life. But the skateboarder is tenacious and funny and Quinn just might let his guard down, until he learns that Nicholas is looking for sponsorship from his company. Just another guy who only wants what Quinn can give him. He's crushed and immediately closes his heart to keep from getting hurt any further. Will his inability to trust cost him everything?
