Greetings from Lithuania! Maybe you have answered this before buuut what do they grow and eat in Winter? Thank you :)

Lithuania!! Awesome!

As far as Winterian crops go: in theory, they could grow anything they like, thanks to their conduit. Er, I should say they used to be able to grow anything they liked, when they had a fully functioning kingdom ruled by a queen who could wield the conduit. One of the main uses of Royal Conduits is making the ground yield crops, which is particularly helpful in kingdoms like Winter and Summer, where harsh climates make it impossible to grow under normal circumstances. But with magic? Anything is possible!

That being said: Winterian diets include very simple, light food, and thus their agriculture reflects that. I actually took a lot of their food inspirations from Greek culture — olives and lemons and clean, fresh, light dishes. Which I realize makes zero sense on the surface — Greek food is about as far from snowy/icy things as one can get. But when creating the culture in the Winter Kingdom, I loved the juxtaposition of a Greek-inspired culture set in a place where you wouldn’t expect it. It gives the overall ivory, clean feel of what people think of when they think “ancient Greece” new meaning — namely, representing the ivory, clean attributes that are also found when people think “winter.”

And can I just say this influx of world building questions makes my heart SO HAPPY LIKE WHOA.
