Make these eggs on Easter Sunday.
1. In a stainless steel pot add a handful of brown onion skins, lay the eggs carefully over the skins and then cover with another large handful of brown onion skins. Add enough water to cover the eggs and bring to the boil.
2. Boil for about 15 minutes, then take off the heat.
3. Leave the eggs to cool in the pot with the onions skins and water.
4. Remove the eggs and let them dry before placing them in a decorative bowl.
A games is usually played with these eggs. Each person is given an egg with the aim of seeing who has the hardest shell by challenging others to an egg tapping contest. You tap your egg on your opponents egg to try to break theirs. The winner is the last person without a broken egg.
After this little contest, the eggs are eaten of course!
