I don't understand how that's poetry... I like poetry but I don't understand how that's poetry... could you please explain?

"Writing poetry is a state of free float. ― Margaret Atwood

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It’s that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that’s what the poet does. — Allen Ginsberg

Poetry is a search for ways of communication; it must be conducted with openness, flexibility, and a constant readiness to listen. - Fleur Adcock

Poetry isn’t a profession, it’s a way of life. It’s an empty basket; you put your life into it and make something out of that. - Mary Oliver

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things. - T.S Eliot

Listen, real poetry doesn’t say anything; it just ticks off the possibilities. Opens all doors. You can walk through any one that suits you. -Jim Morrison”

Always remember that just because one doesn’t think something is poetry or a certain piece of writing isn’t poetry doesn’t mean that it isn’t. Poetry can be anything a person wants it to be. It’s just like art, you don’t have to understand it, but if you want to look at it still, make sure you keep an open mind about it.
