Aforementioned: aphorisms and questions for 2015

Death is Nature's elegant answer to the dilemma posed by birth. We humans meddle: hopeless birth, senseless death. These beautiful children had the same right to life as a beautiful Ambani child, yet they appear hopeless. Maybe we should attempt to guarantee every new human a fulfilled life. That is not possible so long as we give no thought to the numbers we make. This is the bi-catch from shrimp fishing: utterly wasted death. There is no elegance here.
