It's possible to apply these thoughts to "the countryside plus". Some upmarket food retailers do the same, providing top-of-the-range products and appealing to those who care about their image. What doesn't happen so often is that people fighting for a fair deal for farmers, or decent basic supermarket products or good conditions for animals in the food-chain, manage to get the same traction.
